Pixel
The term pixel is the combination of abbreviated forms of two different words: picture and element. A pixel is one point or dot within a graphic or image. On an LCD the image is divided up into many thousands of pixels which are situated in columns and rows. Pixels are placed incredibly close together giving the illusion of unity. Pixels are programmable so that they can present specific colours at specific intensities, and pixels are considered basic units within a computer monitor or television screen.
