Image Aspect Ratio

The term aspect ratio relates to the ratio of width to height in specific display.  The vertical and horizontal lines are referenced as a ratio.  For instance, if a graphic has a ratio of 2:1 than it means that the width of the image is two times larger than the height of the image.  Knowing the image aspect ratio is imperative when it comes time to resize images if one wants to maintain image clarity.  Display resolutions are also described with the term aspect ratio which indicates the dimensions of a display’s resolution.
