Plasma VS LCD, What is the difference?
There are a number of differences between the Plasma TV and the LCD TV and knowing the primary differences can help a consumer make better buying decisions. The only really significant similarity between such electronics is the fact that both sets offer wide flat screens and both sets house a lot of technology behind super slender housing and cabinetry.Plasma televisions rely on a matrix of minute, super tiny cells made up of gas plasma which are charged by electrical means. Once charged the charged cells produce imagery on the flat screen display. In contrast, LCD televisions, also known as liquid crystal display televisions, have special screens which have liquefied crystals which are purposefully placed between two separate plates made of glass. Different electrical charges are then specifically applied to the crystals and this is what makes the image appear on the screen.
Plasma TVs and LCD TVs range in terms of screen sizes and LCD is a bit more efficient in terms of power consumption. An LCD television has diminished viewing angles when compared to a Plasma screen, but many LCD televisions are being constructed with special viewing angles for optimal viewing potential. There are some LCD TVs which offer viewing angles equivalent to 178 degrees x 178 degrees from four different axes.
Since many of the LCD TVs made today consist of a matte screen, there is less reflective light and issues with visibility. One will find that fewer blind spots are created from excessive light and the LCD TV screen is perfect for displaying crisp, clean vivid colors at all times. Plasma TVs have highly reflective screens and can sometimes drown out the images being presented if there is too much light in a room.
The lifespan of an LCD and a Plasma set are roughly the same and if the sets are used for a period of eight hours every single day they can last as many as 60,000 hours. Motion blurring is not an issue thanks to the creation of 120Htz image enhancers which wipe out and eradicate any potential skipping, blurring and digital artifacts. Today’s LCD HDTVs are becoming coveted possessions indeed since many such devices are offering super connectivity options too. One will find that there are LCD’s on the market today with more than several high definition media input devices, inputs for component video, inputs for personal PCs, and plenty of connectivity options. The options have been so expanded that many consumers have made the LCD TV the hub of their entertainment systems.
The price of HDTV LCD models are proving more and more affordable all the time. Many consumers are now finding it quite affordable to invest in an LCD HDTV. A comparison of models which were marketed just a year prior display a considerable drop in initial launching price. The savvy, money conscious consumer can get a great deal if willingly waiting for the nuance of a newer model launch to wear off a bit before buying.

I actually replaced recently a 42 inch Plasma in a 42 inch LCD.
Both of them by LG. I didn’t do it because I thought it will be much better but actually because my son broke it (very long story) and I can tell you that I enjoy the LCD much more - we definitely see a difference.
